Naturalization Records

Immigrants seeking American citizenship typically filed naturalization papers at their county courthouse. The process required the alien to declare his/her intention to become a citizen and to petition the court for citizenship status. The Minnesota Historical Society (MHS) microfilmed the naturalization records dating from the 1800's until the mid 1950's for all Minnesota Counties. The Research Center has a full set of the microfilm rolls produced by MHS. Conrad Peterzen, a member of the Range Genealogical Society, worked for nearly 20 years to alphabetically index these records. The indexes he produced can be searched at Ancestry.com, or by clicking on the Database Search button above to access our own databases.
