Iron Range Death Record Index, 1900-1988
A variety of sources were indexed to compile this listing including the Maple Hill and Hibbing Cemetery list of internments and several township and city death certificate collections. Indexed townships whose records are housed in the
Iron Range Research Center Archives include:
Alango, Clinton, Cotton, Van Buren, McDavitt, Solway, Canosia, Kugler, Wuori, Embarrass,
Toivola, Halden, Fine Lakes, Culver, Missabe Mountain, Willow Valley, and Duluth, City death records included in the index and housed at the Research Center include:
Toivola, Biwabik, Taconite Village, Cook and Winton.
The index includes first, middle and last name, maiden name if available, birth date and place of birth, date of death and place of death, age when death occurred, and place of internment. Some entries have been cross-referenced with the obituary file. Some of the sources in this index have not been verified with actual death records. particularly the list from the Hibbing Cemetery. City of Virginia Death Records Index, 1902-1994
The City of Virginia Minnesota death records are archived at the Iron Range Research Center. This index has been created from a card file index, which provides access to the death records. Certified death certificates can be obtained from St. Louis County recorders office. This index is only for persons who died within the City of Virginia municipal boundaries. The index includes first, middle and last name and maiden name if available. It also delineates whether the person is male or female. Date of death, age at death and birth date are noted when available.
The certificate book number, certificate registration number, and page on which the certificate is found are noted on the index.
State of Minnesota death cards
The State of Minnesota
death cards have been indexed for the years 1900-1903. Results from this
index will appear in the Minnesota Statewide portion of the search results.
Index includes death cards for the entire state from those years. While not
as detailed as later death certificates, the cards can provide useful clues
about the deceased.
